Southend winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce will not figure against Vitesse Arnhem tonight - but he is expected to be fit for the start of the League One season.
Jamal limped off during the Blues 2-2 draw with Dagenham 10 days ago with a stomach problem.
However, according to manager Steve Tilson is won't be long before the Jamaican international is back in action.
"We sent Jamal to have a scan on his stomach and everything came back clear, which is obviously really good news," confirmed Tilson.
"We knew it wasn't a hernia or anything like that because of where he was hurting, but we wanted to get it checked out properly to try and really get to the bottom of what is going on.
"The scan didn't show anything unusual though and Jamal should be fit for the game with Leyton Orient.
"I don't think we will play him tonight because he hasn't trained for a while, but we shall work with him and I would be very disappointed if he failed to make our first match of the season."
Meanwhile, striker Lee Bradbury could play some part this evening after shaking off an ankle injury.
Kick-off at Roots Hall is at 7.45pm, which tickets available for £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.
