Southend United shared the points at home to Yeovil Town following a goalless draw at Roots Hall that never sprung into life.
Chances were simply few and far between for either side, with the Blues struggling to produce the threat needed in their search of goals, as they remain 22nd in the table but now three points adrift from safety.
Inside the opening three minutes, Dean Bowditch was offered a decent sight of goal in the penalty box for the visitors, but headed over from a free kick.
Southend responded with a half chance of their own, as Scott Vernon drilled a low shot from 20 yards into the gloves of goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.
Another opportunity also arrived from a Johnny Herd throw-in, as he launched the ball into the area for Pat Baldwin to flick it across goal, where a sliding Vernon could only stab it wide at the far post.
The second half failed to bring an improvement when it came to the entertainment stakes, with Gavin Tomlin offered enough space to shoot inside the area, but volleying over.
Baldwin repeated the trick at the other end, as he hooked the ball behind goal from a Herd throw-in.
Unfortunately, that was to be the extent of Southend's chances in the final third and as the game moved into the closing stages, it was Yeovil who looked the only side to grab an unlikely winner, despite Steve Tilson ringing the changes up front by bringing on both Matt Paterson and Harry Crawford.
A mazy run towards the penalty box from Andy Welsh ended with a low shot that was saved by Steve Mildenhall before the goalkeeper produced the right reaction to hold on to another effort from Tomlin.
It was Tomlin who had the last real opportunity when arrowing a shot from long range that sailed narrowly wide of the right-hand post before the referee brought proceedings to an end, after four minutes of injury time.
The Blues are now back in action in just two days time in a 'six pointer' at Gillingham on Bank Holiday Monday.
