Boys from Heycroft Primary School in Leigh will continue their bid to reach Wembley this Friday when they compete in the Southern Regional Final of the Football League Community Cup.
Community Manager Stuart Fowler will be taking the boys down to Leyton Orient FC, where 13 other clubs will be taking part in their section of the 6-a-side competition.
If Heycroft Primary School are successful, they will be heading to Wembley Stadium to compete in the final on the same day as the League One Play-Off final against the Northern Regional winner.
The squad of Under-11 boys progressed to this stage following a successful series of results against 12 other local primary schools at Southend United's training ground Boots & Laces at the beginning of the year
The Heycroft team, managed by Tim Goddard, is made up of the following boys: Lewis Catling, Elliot Hutchinson - Khupe, Tyler Moore, Tom Dance, Daniel Payne, Luke Pinheiro, Robert Alabaster and Keenan Gyamfi.
It was only a few years ago that Earls Hall Junior School won the competition and Stuart is excited about Heycrofts taking part in just two days time.
He said: "To win the National Tournament with Earls Hall at the Millennium Stadium a few years ago was a fantastic experience.
"This is an unbelievable opportunity for the pupils from Heycroft and fingers crossed they can be successful and get the chance to play at Wembley Stadium, which many professional footballers won't even do."
