Steve King's Centre of Excellence Squad only had just one fixture on day 1 which they won quite easily 7-0.
This was a good start to their fixtures, although they knew they would come across tougher opposition in the later games. Wiggins x 2, Hooligan x 2, Brown, Volk and Fogg were the scorers.
We had just two fixtures on day 2 which we won. An 8-0 win start the day with goals from Brown x 2, Acquah x 2 Volk, Johnson, Humphries, Wiggins. This was a good start to the day and following the Shadow Squads fixtures the second game was supported by the rest of the youngsters who eagerly supported the Centre players to victory against FDS.
The game v FDS saw the young Blues coming out on top with a 5-2 win. The game was very competitive and a professional performance was witnessed following goals from Brown x 3, Fogg and Johnson.
On the final day there was 3 fixtures including the final which was won on a penalty shoot-out! An earlier 2-4 defeat v Lyseng IF in the group stages did not prevent us from reaching the final and again we met Lyseng IF, however this time won via penalties! The other group game was won 2-1.
A 1-1 draw in the final with Under 9 Oliver Johnson equalising in the final five minutes saw the game reach penalties in which Fogg and Brown scored. Lyseng scored their first pen and missed their second, which meant Humphries scoring would win us the cup. Unfortunately his pen was saved, although Lyseng also missed their third which gave the blues their first Norhalne Elite Cup victory!
It was a fantastic tour where the Under 10's travelled with the Shadow Sqauds and had a thoroughly enjoyable week. The result in the final was made all the more enjoyable having clawed back into the game in torrential rain on a sloppy pitch.
Congratulations go to all the players and Steve King for their success and hard work.
Well Done!
