Southend United are pleased to confirm that defender John Egan has extended his loan deal with the club until the end of the season.
Egan has made six appearances for Blues so far since joining on loan at the start of March.
The Sunderland defender has played his part in Blues keeping three clean sheets in their last three games alongside Jakub Sokolik.
He also scored one of the goals of the season against Scunthorpe United as Blues came from 2-0 down to earn a draw.
Egan will now be with Blues until the end of the season and will be available for the play-offs should we finish in the top seven.
Phil Brown said: “John has done really well since coming to the club and alongside Jakub they’ve helped keep three clean sheets in the last three games.
“If you had said six weeks ago we’d have two defenders keeping Luke Prosser out of the team I’d have said no chance.
“That’s testament to the performances of John and Jakub and I’m delighted John will be with us until the end of the season now.”
